SCCVL League Championships

League Headlines   A quick update on the tournament this weekend.  There's been a change.  We were just able to secure a couple of courts at Long Beach City College as well. So, we will run the first portion of the women's tournament at Long Beach City; the first portion of the men's tournament at Long Beach State; and at about 2:00p, combine the two tournaments at Long Beach State.

I'm still waiting to hear from a couple of the women's teams, so I haven't finalized the formats for the tournaments yet.  I'll get something out to you all as soon as I can -- but I'm figuring that we'll do a somewhat modified double elimination, and I'm trying to structure it so that all teams get a minimum of three matches.  (Can't promise that yet.  The new courts help, but the number of teams sets a limit.)

To reiterate:  Women will now play at Long Beach City in the morning.  Men will still play at Long Beach State.  In the afternoon, we'll combine.  The first round matches start at 8:00a, so get some sleep.

Directions to both sites are below.  Note, though, that the parking at State, which used to be in Lot C, doesn't work now.  They're building a new rec center (which is supposed to have 3 vb courts!) on the old Lot C.  Matt Doshier says Lot 11 is the best place to park.  Costs something like $3.25 for the day.

    Pass, set.  See you there.

on Thursday, October 16, 2008 - 09:30 AM Posted by: Anonymous
Headlines for the SCCVL WomenHey all,

We are looking to host a fall tournament on the 15th and 16th of November. It is still tentative, because we are waiting on gym space approval, but it will most likely be on that weekend. It will be $125 for the first team and $100 for the second. The winning team will win back their entry fee. We will host around 12 teams and we hope to see you all there. Email me if you are interested, and I can send you all the finalized details as soon as I know. Thanks!
